UTLA disowns SK Thadou’s statement

IMPHAL, Apr 4: United Tribal Liberation Army (UTLA), an armed organisation that recently entered into a tripartite ‘suspension of operation’ agreement, has categorically disowned comments by one SK Thadou.
referring to an article posted in Tehelka.com by its correspondence Ratan-dip Choudhury under the headline ‘UTLA cries foul over army move to squash peace efforts’ and the ‘Manipur rebel outfit writing to the Prime Minister about army’s efforts to derail crucial peace process’, UTLA’s Information and Public Relations secretary Josh dismissed the story given by ‘so-called chairman SK Thadou’ as totally false and baseless.
Conveying strong objection against false reporting and misleading the innocent people of Manipur, the secretary contended that SK Thadou claiming to be UTLA chairman had met the Manipur Chief Minister and expressed desire to law down arms to enter the SoO process.
The individual lacked support base and had no standing in the organisation, informed Josh while claiming that SK Thadou mustered a few goons and criminals and put up unjustifiable demands for joining the peace process. Reminding that on Oct 27, 2011 a total of 43 cadres had joined the peace process with the state and Central Governments while another group of 52 cadres followed suit on March 27, 2012, the secretary noted that SK Thadou never approached or tried to prove his authenticity by coming forward before the people.
Instead he (SK Thadou) tried to falsely blame one and all through the media contrary to genuine UTLA cadres deposi- ting their arms in compliance with the SoO ground rules, he said while branding SK Thadou as some local criminal trying to misguide local youths and disturb the peace process.
